Iran threatens world peace

• By MORDECHAI KEDAR The writer is a renowned expert on the Middle East, a lieutenant colonel (res.) in the IDF Intelligence Corps, and a member of the Israel Victory Project.

Acomprehensive view of Iran’s activity shows clearly that Tehran is trying to undermine peace and stability, governance, and prosperity in various countries.

Recently, MEMRI reported that Iranian Channel 1 had aired a speech delivered by IRGC General Mohammad Bagheri, the chief of staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, at the Jamkaran Mosque in southern Tehran. General Bagheri delivered the speech while Iranian soldiers stood in formation over a surface emblazoned with the inscription “Israel should be erased” in Persian and in Hebrew.

This speech once again highlights how Iran is the number one threat to the existence of the State of Israel.

The Iranian regime actually has a doomsday clock in the center of Tehran which counts down the time until Israel’s destruction.

According to MEMRI, General Kioumars Heydari, the commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army’s Ground Forces, revealed that Iran has “produced and designed missiles that will be aimed at the heart of Israel and will destroy that pustular growth.”

Recently, an Iranian plot to assassinate Israel National Security Minister Itamar BenGvir was uncovered. Additionally, Iran displayed the newest long-range drone, which it plans to deploy against Israel.

Recently Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared, “Iran must face a credible nuclear threat.” After all, the only time Iran stopped its nuclear program was when the US invaded Iraq in 2003 and Iran feared it would be next.

Not surprisingly, Yahya Rahim Safavi, an advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, said that Tehran would “stand

behind the Palestinian fighters until they had liberated the Palestinian territories and Jerusalem.” His statement came after some 100 Israelis were taken hostage by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), 700 Israelis were killed, and over 2,000 were wounded as Hamas invaded southern Israel.

A nuclear-armed Iran is also a danger to the US, Europe, and the rest of the democratic world which is viewed by the Iranian mullahs as a threat to their Islamic Republic. Iran sees no problem in targeting dissidents who have fled the Islamic Republic of Iran to Europe and the US.

At any official rally or gathering, after Iranians chant “death to Israel” they add “death to America.” They chant this because America is the symbol of democracy, human rights, women’s rights, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from religion, freedom of LGBTQ, and every other “Western” idea that opposes Islamic values as they view them.

Iran threatens peace in the Middle East via its proxies and keeps armed militias in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and Gaza.

Last week Iranian-backed Houthis killed three Bahraini

and one Saudi Army personnel and wounded several others in a drone attack that targeted the joint Arab peace keeping force in Yemen, thus jeopardizing the fragile peace talks that are presently taking place there. This civil war between the Iranian-backed Houthis and the legitimate government of Yemen has been going on since 2015. Hundreds of thousands have been killed and 80% of the Yemenite population is now dependent upon foreign aid for survival.

The Meir Amit Intelligence and Information Center recently mentioned that “sources in eastern Syria have

reported the establishment of a new militia in eastern Deir a-Zor called the Hashemite Tribes Corps. According to the report, the militia, numbering about 1,000 fighters, is headed by Sheikh Nawaf Ragheb al-Bashir, head of the Al-Bakara tribe.

Furthermore, the decision to establish the new militia under Iranian sponsorship was made at the end of a meeting held in the city of Al-Mayadeen in the presence of al-Bashir as well as of pro-regime militia commander Muhammad al-Raja, Abd al-Saheb al-Mousawi from Iraq, and Hajj Abbas from Iran. The militia was established to fight the Kurdish SDF forces operating east of the Euphrates River (reported by shaam.org on September 13, 2023).

According to the Al-Araby al-Jadeed news website (on September 12, 2023), this is not a new militia but an organizational change because of the clashes that recently took place between the SDF and Sunni Arab tribes in eastern Syria as al-Bashir attempted to use these developments to take over the Arab tribes – with the support of the Syrian regime and Iran.”

The above sources added: “Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, speaking at a conference at Reichman University, revealed photos documenting an airport being built by Iran in southern Lebanon. The airport is in the Qal’at Jabbour mountain region, known as Hezbollah’s training area, 20 km. (about 12 miles) from the border with Israel (north of Metula).

The compound was built after the Second Lebanon War (2006) under the supervision of Imad Mughnieh, who served as head of Hezbollah’s military-terrorist wing until his assassination on February 12, 2008. Residential buildings, shooting ranges, and training areas were identified on the ground, including a training complex for urban warfare.”

IN THE RECENT anti-terror operation that Azerbaijan conducted in Karabakh, Tehran threatened Baku and supported Armenia, due to Azerbaijan’s close alliance with the Jewish state.

The Iranians proclaimed: “Iran will not tolerate any Zionist initiative on the border reshuffling in the region.”

After the operation was conducted in opposition to Iran’s interests, Iran is now trying to backtrack and support Azerbaijan’s idea of establishing the

Zangezur Corridor in order not to lose all their interests in the Caucuses region. Previously, Iran opposed the creation of this corridor, claiming it would cut Iran off from Armenia, its lifeline for bypassing Western-opposed sanctions.

However, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan says that Iran will help Azerbaijan build this corridor if the Armenians refuse to do so.

This reversal of Iran’s position regarding the Zangezur Corridor is designed to further destabilize the region so that Iran will not lose out entirely. However, the Zangezur Corridor is not the only area where Iran is stirring up trouble.

According to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, during the recent meeting of the foreign ministers of Iran, Russia, Syria, and Turkey, Iran proposed that Turkey withdraw its military presence from Syrian territory in exchange for a Syrian commitment to deploy its forces on the border to prevent an attack on Turkish territory. Of course, the mullahs do not care about Turkey’s security concerns in Syria. They merely seek to weaken the Azerbaijanis in Karabakh and the Turks in Syria in order to strengthen their own dominance and power in the region, at the expense of the Turkic countries.

Unfortunately, backed by the US current administration’s policy of appeasement vis-àvis Iran, the mullahs feel that the world belongs to them and they act accordingly as influential actors in the global arena. For this reason, the world needs to look at Iran in a holistic way since it must become aware of the way in which the Iranian octopus spreads its tentacles.
